Kids Care of Iowa City welcomes all area students K through 6th grade.

Kids Care of Iowa City is the area's premiere Before and After School program. We transport children to and from Lemme, Hoover and Lucas Elementary Schools.

We offered full daycare (7:00am - 5:45pm) on no school conference days, winter break, spring break (enrollment minimum must be met).

We have a full summer camp during the entire summer. All children throughout the community are welcome. Each week has a theme. We enjoy swimming, field trips, crafts and much more.

Kids Care of Iowa City strives to teach our children the importance of giving to others. We have participated in many service projects. In the past we contributed to the U of I Children's Hospital by donating stuffed animals at  Christmastime and held our own  Mini Dance Marathon to raise money for pediatric oncology patients and their families. We sponsored the Help a Hero program and collected toothbrushes, toothpaste, floss and mouth wash for soldiers abroad. We are proud sponsors of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Mayors Youth Empowerment Program.

Kids Care Response to COVID-19: How we will be protecting our families and staff throughout our summer program

Dear Kids Care Families,

We are very excited to welcome you and your children back for our summer camp on July 6th! Due to COVID-19, there have been changes to our operating procedures and camp schedule. The changes in operation will be listed below and a new calendar of activities for the month of July will be attached to this email. The August calendar will be finalized and released as soon as possible.

The Kids Care board has been working to develop a plan in order to operate in the safest way possible. We would like to remind you that child care providers are not legally expected to screen for COVID-19. If you and/or your child are experiencing fever, cough, or shortness of breath, it is your responsibility to contact your local healthcare provider. Any parent whose child is enrolled in our summer camp is expected to report any positive cases of COVID-19 in the household. Any child with possible exposure to COVID-19 will be asked not to return to Kids Care for 14 days.

The procedures listed are subject to change based on new information:

Capacity & Social Distancing at the Center

  • This summer our camp capacity is less due to social distancing guidelines. We will be accepting children on a first come first served basis. You will be notified if we are unable to provide you with care due to our limited capacity. We apologize for any inconvenience.
  • Children will be separated into smaller groups around the building with one staff member. There will be a staff “floater” present to help keep our ratio. These groups will vary from week to week, but we will try to keep them consistent as much as possible.

Healthy and Safety Measures

  • Each morning, children will be greeted by a staff member outside of the church. Their temperature will be checked and parents will be given a health history questionnaire. If their temperature is above 100 degrees F, they will not be permitted to camp until they’re fever free for 24 hours. Parents will not be allowed in the center.
  • We ask that all children arrive at the center by 9:00 am. Please wait in your car if you see others being screened outside of the center. This is new to us as well and we will do our best to be as efficient as possible!
  • Temperatures will be checked a second time after lunch. We will immediately notify you if your child has a temperature over 100 degrees F and they must be picked up immediately.
  • For pick up each day, please call us at 319-337-2095. A staff member will help your child get ready to leave. They will be sent outside to you when you arrive.
  • We will send out email updates based on information collected during the temperature screenings and questionnaire. In addition, you will be notified of any possible exposures.
  • All children and staff are expected to wear a mask in the building.
  • In addition to packing a sack lunch, children are asked to bring their own snacks, drinks, and breakfast.
  • Children will be educated on and expected to use proper hand washing techniques. Staff will emphasize the importance of social distancing and keeping hands away from faces.
  • Staff will deep clean all materials after use.
  • For the month of July, we are taking the precaution of removing field trips from our schedule. Instead, the plan is to do crafts and other activities at the center.

Camp Fees & Payment

Tuition fees are as follows: $215 per week for enrolled families and $225 per week for non enrolled families. The first tuition payment is due on July 6th for the weeks of July 6th, July 13th, and July 20th. It is crucial to have your payment in on time, so you do not lose your spot for any of those weeks. The next payment is due on July 27th for the weeks of July 27th, August 3rd, and August 10th. Your payment can be brought with your child on July 6th or July 27th or mailed to Sue directly at 303 Amhurst St. Iowa City, IA 52245.

Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns. Below is the link to register for summer camp. In order to provide enough staff and in order to separate children, we must have an exact number. Please select the weeks you will be sending your child to camp by June 26th.  We will not be able to add or withdraw any children after the deadline. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience.

Thank you for your understanding!
